This Week’s Rental Roundup
Corcoran Cortelyou

Searching for a place to rent in or around Ditmas Park? We’ve rounded up some spots in and around the neighborhood to help you with your hunt. If you live in one of the buildings, help a hunter out and leave a comment to let your prospective neighbors know how you like it.

One bedroom on Ocean Avenue
Available: November 28
Price: $1,250
Details: We’re not a fan of the fact that much of this apartment at 1060 Ocean Avenue isn’t photographed, and the photos in the listing leave a little to be desired, but it’s not too often we’ll see a one-bedroom listen for this price. In the pre-war building, which is at the corner of Ocean and Foster, you’d have a live in super, elevator, and apparently the apartment is “completely renovated.” There’s an eat-in kitchen with a dining area, a large living room, high ceilings, and hardwood floors.

2.5 bedroom on Ditmas Avenue
Available: Immediately
Price: $1,900
Details: Looks like you’d get plenty of space in this three bedroom, one bathroom spot at 2212 Ditmas Avenue  – which was originally rented as a doctor’s office but is now being offered as a 2.5 bedroom – so, basically, two bedrooms and what seems like could be a good space for a child or an office. You’d get two queen-sized bedrooms in addition to the smaller bedroom, a full living room, a separate kitchen, wood floors, and heat and hot water is included. You can see a video of the space here. You’d be about eight blocks from the Q subway stop at Cortelyou.

One bedroom on Albemarle Road
Available: November 15
Price: $1,950
Details: Again, we wish there were more photos, but apparently they’ll be coming after work is completed in this apartment at 1701 Albemarle Road. According to the listing, this spot looks pretty cozy, being a south-facing pre-war rental that has a large eat-in kitchen with new appliances (including a dishwasher, hooray!), a large living room and bedroom, and a “sizable foyer that would accommodate an office area.” You’d have five closets, including one that’s a walk-in, hardwood floors, and a building with a live-in super, elevator, laundry, and bike storage. At 1701 Albemarle. you’d be close to the restaurants and shopping on both Church Avenue and Cortelyou Road, as well as Prospect Park and the B/Q subway station on Church. Dogs are allowed on approval.

Three bedroom on Cortelyou Road
Available: Immediately
Price: $2,750
Details: Located at 1016 Cortelyou Road (just above the new Element Beauty Lounge), this three bedroom, two bathroom apartment seems to have plenty of space, with walk-in closets, large windows, a washer and dryer, a dishwasher, and hardwood floors. As far as aesthetics go, the rooms seem to attract lots of natural light, and there are some lovely prewar details. You’d be right in the thick of Cortelyou Road – which could be good or bad, depending on what you want. Being so close to Coney Island Avenue, you’d probably get a fair amount of noise (though, here’s hoping your walls will be super thick!), but you’d be steps away from such places as Bar Chord, Brooklyn ARTery, and, of course, the beauty lounge, among many others.
