This Weekend's Open House Picks
We’ve rounded up some of the more interesting open houses happening in and around Ditmas Park this Sunday. Any thoughts on these places?
40 Clarkson Avenue #1B
List Price: $319,000
Size: One bedroom, one bathroom
Details: We like that this apartment is so close to Prospect Park – you’re about a block away, and it looks relatively spacious. You’d have an eat-in kitchen, a foyer, and the building is pet friendly. There’s laundry on site. You’d be close to the restaurants and shopping on Flatbush Avenue and within walking distance of the commercial strip on Church Avenue.
Open House: Sunday, October 19, 12-1:30pm
221 East 18th Street #3G
List Price: $589,000
Size: Two bedrooms, one bathroom
Details: This pre-war apartment looks pretty spacious from the photos, though we’re not big fans of the small-ish looking window in the second bedroom. Still, there’s an open foyer, living and dining rooms, all new appliances (including a dishwasher), hardwood floors, arched doorways, built-in shelves, and baseboard moldings. With six total closets, including a couple walk-in ones, storage space seems pretty decent. At 221 East 18th Street, you’re within walking distance to both the B/Q subway station on Church Avenue and the Q station at Beverley Road. Plus, you’re near the shops and restaurants on both Church Avenue and Cortelyou Road.
Open House: Sunday, October 19, 12-1:30pm
1735 Caton Avenue, Penhouse C
List Price: $799,00
Size: Two bedrooms, two bathrooms
Details: This penthouse sits on the top floor of the Caton Court Condominiums, which is located just next to Prospect Park’s Parade Grounds. If you lived here, you’d have your own private terrace, as well as a balcony, “eco-friendly natural bamboo hardwood floors,” lots of windows and what looks like plenty of sunlight, and more. Your kitchen would have marble countertops, and you’d get your own parking space. What do you think of that $799,000 price tag?
Open House: Sunday, October 19, 12:30-2pm
485 E. 17th Street
List Price: $2,199,000
Size: Six bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms
Details: This house. It’s $2.2 million, which means we’ll never, ever be able to afford it, but, ack, drool. The landmarked home that was built in 1901 has so many things we love: a wraparound porch, a billiard room, a center hall, a huge formal living room, French doors leading into a formal dining room, an eat-in kitchen, super spacious bedrooms, the large master bathroom has a bedroom with a claw foot tub and pedestal sinks, and more. At $2.2 million, do you think it will sell?
Open House: Sunday, October 19, 2-4pm.
