Weekend Subway Service In Brooklyn
Taking the subway on the weekend is just as frustrating as it is taking it during the week.
If you’re planning to travel via the subway this weekend, take a look at the list of planned service changes below first. Remember to give yourself extra time and maybe pack some aspirin.
D/N/R – Prospect Ave station is closed for renovation
D – Coney Island-bound trains will skip DeKalb Ave, Union Street/4th Ave, 4th Ave-9th Street, and 25th Street/4th Ave stations
F – there will be no trains between Church Ave/McDonald Ave and Coney Island/Stillwell Ave. Free shuttle buses will be provided.
J – there will be no trains between Crescent Street/Fulton Street and Jamaica Center (Queens). Free shuttle buses will be provided or the MTA suggests taking the E for alternate service.
L – service will operate in two sections—between 8th Avenue and Broadway Junction and between Broadway Junction and Carnarsie-Rockaway Parkway. Trains will run approximately every 24 minutes between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Parkway.
M – there will be no trains between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues and Myrtle Avenue/Broadway. Free shuttle buses will be provided. Shuttle trains will run between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues and Metropolitan Avenue (Queens).
Service will operate between Essex Street and Myrtle Avenue/Broadway, then the J track to/from Broadway Junction (Eastern Parkway).
Q– Coney Island-bound trains will run via the R track from 57th Street-7th Avenue (Manhattan) to DeKalb Avenue
R – Bay Ridge Avenue station is closed for renovation.
There will be no trains between 36th Street (Brooklyn) and Bay Ridge-95th Street. Free shuttle buses will be provided or the MTA suggests taking the N for alternate service.
2/3/4/5 – see below
2/3 – there will be no service between Brooklyn and Manhattan. Take 4/5 instead.
2/3 – No service at Clark Street and Hoyt Street stations. Use 4/5 Borough Hall and Nevins Street stations instead.
4/5 – trains will run local in Brooklyn.
For service from Brooklyn into Manhattan, transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr for N/Q/R trains.
For service from Manhattan into Brooklyn, transfer to N/Q/R trains, or take the free out-of-system transfer between South Ferry 1/2 trains and Bowling Green 4/5 trains.
