7th Annual Soul of Brooklyn Festival
When: Saturday, August 20-28, 1 to 8 p.m.
Where: Fort Greene Park
What: Meet MoCADA in the park for a day full of celebrating the opening day of the Soul of BK Festival.This weeklong series of events celebrates the African diaspora,  arts, and culture while promoting partnerships between local arts organizations and businesses. 12th Annual Fort Greene Summer Literary Festival
When: Saturday, August 20, 2  to 5 p.m.
Where: BRIC (647 Fulton St.)
What: Writers of diverse backgrounds will take the stage this weekend in Fort Greene to read their stories of history, race, class and personal challenges in celebration of creative writing. Readers include Nicole Dennis-Benn (Here Comes the Sun), Kaitlyn Greenidge (We Love You, Charlie Freeman), Yaa Gyasi (Homegoing) and young writers from the New York Writers Coalition’s summer-long series in Fort Greene Park.

Fort Greene Fresh Pantry
When: Saturday, August 20, 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Where: 251 Nassau St. (Corner of Nassau & Navy Streets)
What: MARP & City Harvest have joined forces to open the Fort Greene & Farragut Fresh Pantry to help fight food insecurity in our community. The Fresh Pantry will distribute 10,000 pounds of produce, free of charge to residents of Farragut, Whitman, and Ingersoll Houses once per month.

Wallabout Historic Walking Tour
When: Saturday, August 20, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m
Where:  Fort Greene Park Visitor’s Center
What: The 90 minute guided tour begins in Fort Greene Park, and includes a 1.5-mile walk, concluding at 99 Ryerson St. The walk will highlight how the neighborhood has developed since the Dutch first arrived in the early 1600’s.
