Weekend Events Roundup: What To Do This Weekend

The glorious weekend is finally upon us, and we are all mapping out what were going to do with our free couple of days. Some may want to stay in and catch up on the book their reading or their favorite television show, and that is great. But if you’re the type of person who wants to go out and meet people or see shows on your days off, then here’s a list of things to do around the neighborhood this weekend:

Aviator Summer Music Series — Shilelagh Law

When: Friday, September 16. 8pm-11pm.
Where: Aviator Sports and Events Center, 3159 Flatbush Avenue.
What: Come down and dance your best jig at Aviator with the highly energetic Irish music group, Shilelagh Law. This show commemorates being halfway to St. Patrick’s Day.

Sheepshead Bay Flea Market
When: Saturday, September 17, 8am-3pm.
Where: United Methodist Church of Sheepshead Bay 3087 Ocean Ave.
What: It’s the weekly, well-established flea market that we all know and love. Find specials treasures such as homemade jewelry and other gems.

NYRR: Open Run
When: Saturday, September 17, 9-10am.
Where: E 88 Street and Seaview Avenue, near the flagpole
What: Open Run is a community-based, volunteer-led running initiative bringing free weekly runs and walks to local neighborhood parks, across all five boroughs of NYC. All runs are directed by volunteers and are free to all participants. The finish line is open until the last person is done. The courses vary based on the park, but the courses are between 2.5 and three miles long.

Storytime at Sheepshead Bay Library
When: Saturday September 17th, 11am
Where: Sheepshead Bay Library, 2636 E.14th St.
What: Join Jess every Saturday morning for Storytime! Visit far away lands, meet interesting people, and laugh at the silly antics of a vast array of characters from literature.

ESOL Conversation Group
When: Saturday, September 17th, 11am.
Where: Sheepshead Bay Library, 2636 E.14th St.
What: Practice and improve your conversation skills fast! Sharpen up your English conversation skills and meet friends from around the world

Lev Trakhtenberg and Russian American Present Elena Vorobey
When: Saturday, September 17th, 7pm
Where: Master Theater, 1029 Brighton Beach Ave
What: Watch the renowned Russian actress play a variety of roles in this show for $45-$85. Vorobey is known to transform into parodies of famous people like Lady Gaga, Alla Pugacheva, Allegrova Irina, Lyme Vajkule, and others.
