Park Slope Library Used Book Collection
When: Saturday, April 5, 10am to 4pm
Where: 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Clean out those bookshelves and donate your old books to the Park Slope Library used book sale. The actual sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, from 10am-5pm, and all proceeds will benefit the branch.

Mother-Daughter Knitting
When: Saturday, April 5, 1-5pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Always wanted to share your love of knitting with your daughter? Mothers and daughters of all ages are welcome to enjoy an afternoon of the craft.
How much: Free!
Opening Day
When: Saturday, April 5, 10am
Where: Prospect Park
What: Festivities begin at 10am with the Opening Day Parade, in which Little Leaguers meet at 7th Avenue and Carroll Street, march down 7th Ave to 9th St, then up to the Prospect Park Bandshell to throw the first pitch of the season. Stick around Prospect Park to volunteer, garden, or enjoy other scheduled family-friendly activities.

Homesick Texan Cookbook Tasting
When: Saturday, April 5, 4pm to 5pm
Where: Powerhouse On 8th, 1111 8th Avenue, between 11th and 12th Streets
What: Come try out some of the recipes from author Lisa Fain’s latest cookbook, The Homesick Texan’s Family Table. The event is hosted by Melissa Vaughan, and Lisa will be on hand to sign copies of her book.

Morning Bird Walk: Changing Seasons, Changing Birds

Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: The Brooklyn Bird Club leads a tour around the park to welcome the earliest migratory birds, and also say goodbye to some of our winter residents.

Food Truck Rally
When: Sunday, April 6, 11am-5pm
Where: Grand Army Plaza
What: Along with Opening Day festivities, there’s another reason to stop by Prospect Park this weekend — the food trucks are back!
