ONGOING

“Every Fold Matters”
When: 
Thursday-Saturday, February 12-14 at 8:30pm
Where: New Lucky Laundromat at 323 Lafayette Avenue, at Grand Avenue
What: A documentary-style theater performance that explores the relationship between strangers and each other, and strangers and their clothes. Created by Lizzie Olesker and Lynne Sachs, produced by Emily Rubin.
How much: $10 suggested donation. Limited seating.

Black Artstory Month
When: Throughout February
Where: Participating businesses along Myrtle Avenue, between Carlton and Classon Avenues

Kids Sing-A-Long
When: Friday, February 13 at 4pm

What: Family-friendly event.

Creative Drama Class For Kids
When: Friday, February 13 from 4-5pm
Where: Walt Whitman Library at 93 Saint Edwards Street
What: Drama activities are introduced connecting to and inspiring literacy and creativity.  The children will serve as audience to each other, also learning what it means to be in audience for a live performance. Simple props and costume pieces will be provided by IDEAS and used not only to spark creativity but to learn how these peripherals can change or enhance a character and/or story.

Black Artstory: Black Brooklyn/Home – A Reading

What: What does it mean to call a place “home”? How do we understand our physical, mental and emotional relationships to a place in flux? Jessica Lynne curates a reading of poetry, prose and essays by writers who offer intimate reflections on Black Brooklyn, the soul of a city that means so much to so many.

BAMcafe Live: Bradd Marquis

Where: BAMcafe at Peter Jay Sharp Building at 30 Lafayette Avenue
What: Soul troubadour Bradd Marquis delivers heartfelt, refreshingly old-school ballads driven by soaring, impassioned  choruses and lush production. Named “Soul Singer of the Year” by BET’s106 & Park, Marquis has shared the stage with stars like India.Arie and Jaheim, bringing audiences relatable songs that reflect his spiritual, upbeat outlook on life.

Story Time: Carin Bramsen

What: Brooklyn children’s book creator Carin Bramsen presents “Just A Duck,” a funny and endearing tribute to the love of friends, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Carin reads from her book, then leads a craft with paper shapes and other elements for kids to assemble into Duck and Cat valentines! For ages 3-8.

Shape Up! NYC Aerobics Class

Brooklyn Pop-Up Market
When: Sunday, February 15 from 12-6pm
Where: Brooklyn Desks at 49 Wyckoff Avenue (between Starr Street and Willoughby Avenue)
What: National Margarita Day celebration! One free margarita to all attendees. There will also be a “drink and sew” workshop with the makers at Scough! The class is $25 and includes the 2 hour course, all supplies needed to make a Scough Bandana as well as, some BPM Margaritas!

Slide Hampton Jazz Jam
When: Sunday, February 15 from 6-8pm
Where: Splitty at 415 Myrtle Avenue
What: Enjoy an evening of live jazz in honor of legendary trombonist and Fort Greene resident Slide Hampton, whose home on 245 Carlton Avenue hosted world famous jazz musicians and groundbreaking jam sessions for over two decades. Curated by reknowned jazz bassist and Fort Greene resident Bill Lee.
