Are you burrowing inside your apartment against the frigid weather? We don’t blame you. With the holiday season in full swing, though, consider spending some of your downtime doing a little winter-cleaning for coats, toys, or packaged food to donate. Here are some places accepting (and picking up!) contributions for those in need.

BRJC’s Musical Shabbat
When: Friday, December 16 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: The Bay Ridge Jewish Center on 4th Avenue and 81 Street
What: As in days of old we continue to play beautiful instrumental music on Shabbat. Get ready to sing and clap to the beat of the music and prayers of the heart. All ages welcome.

What: The open house for this $1.28 million will feature home made cookies, hot cocoa (available on a first come first served basis) and family photos whether or not you plan on buying the house.

Second annual Santa & Friends Social
When: There will be two seatings on Saturday, December 17, one from 10 a.m. to noon and one from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

O Holy Night: A Christmas Concert

What: La Forza dell’Opera’s “O Holy Night: A Christmas Concert”. The singers of La Forza dell’Opera will perform an evening of Christmas and Seasonal songs ending a Carol Sing-Along with the audience. Celebrate this blessed season with the beautiful gift of music

Tree lighting at St. Finbar
When: Saturday, December 17th at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Bay 20th Street between Bath and Benson avenues
What: St. Finbar will celebrate the lighting of the Christmas trees. At the same time the Tree of life will be lit. Parishioners and friends donate in memory of a loved or in thanksgiving. the Adult Choir and Children’s Choir will be performing singing Carols.

Community Chanukah Celebration
