Weekend Crime Blotter: NYPD Releases Videos Of Man Attacking Mosque, Homicide Suspects

SUNSET PARK  – The NYPD is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the man seen in the photos and video below in connection to a criminal mischief incident that involved vandalizing the exterior of a mosque with a hammer. The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is currently investigating the incident.

Police say at approximately 5:20pm on Saturday, November 11, the suspect used a hammer to smash a video camera and multiple windows of the Beit El-Maqdis Islamic Center located at 6224 6th Avenue (between 62nd & 63rd Streets). The suspect then fled the scene, heading east on 62nd Street.

Police describe the suspect as an Asian male. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, blue jeans, and white sneakers

EAST NEW YORK – The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying the two individuals seen in the below video in connection to the shooting death of a 25-year-old man earlier this month.

At approximately 6:30 pm on Wednesday, November 1, police responded to a 911 call about an assault at 545 Dumont Avenue. When they arrived, officers found Dawud Escort, 25, with gunshot wounds to his torso and arm, police said.

EMS transported Escort, who lived on the other end of the block, to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

On Sunday, November 12, police released a surveillance video showing two people wanted for questioning in connection to the case. See the surveillance footage below.
