Weekend Crime Blotter: Identity of 3rd Bed-Stuy Home Invasion Suspect Released, Cops Find 97 Pounds Of Marijuana In Crown Heights And More

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT – The NYPD released on Friday the name of the third suspect wanted in connection to the death of 91-year-old Waldiman Thompson during a home invasion/robbery in Bed-Stuy earlier this month.

Police are searching for 43-year-old Howard Morris who has 11 prior arrests and is allegedly the man seen in surveillance photos and video (below) carrying a lockbox cops say was taken from the Thompsons’ home, according to News 12.

Dwayne Blackwood, 27, of East New York was arrested on October 20 and Suzette Troutman was arrested on October 23. Both are being charged with second-degree murder, two counts of second-degree assault, and two counts of burglary.

Waldiman and Ethlin Thompson reportedly hired Troutman to assist them with their shopping and housekeeping approximately two years ago. Troutman allegedly told her accomplices about the couple and where they kept money in their home.

On October 11, police responded to a call at a residence located on Decatur Street near Marcus Garvey Boulevard.

According to reports, 100-year-old Ethlin Thompson told the officers that unknown people followed her into her ground-floor apartment and tied up her and her husband before ransacking their home. According to the New York Daily News, the suspects stole $5,000 from the couple.

After the suspects left, Ethlin was able to untie herself and call 911. When police arrived to the scene, they found her husband, Waldiman Thompson, lying on the floor, still tied up and unresponsive. EMS transported him to Interfaith Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

CROWN HEIGHTS – An NYPD search of an apartment located on Montgomery Street near Schenectady Avenue in Crown Heights last Friday night uncovered 97 pounds of marijuana and more than $930,000 in cash.

Two Brooklyn residents and one Manhattan man were arrested during the incident. Humphrey Olivo, 36, and Yazmin Olivo, 30, both from Crown Heights, are being charged with criminal possession of marijuana, criminal sale of marijuana, and criminal use of marijuana. Jose Pichardo, 28, from the Lower East Side is being charged with criminal possession of marijuana, criminal sale of marijuana, and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

The NYPD was assisting the Jersey City Police Department in tracking down a suspect wanted for arson and terrorist threat charges when they obtained a search warrant for this location and made the discovery, NBC New York reports. It is not known whether this suspect was found during the search.

PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS – The NYPD is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying two men in connection to a robbery that occurred last Friday.

Police say at approximately 12:00pm on Friday, October 27, a 65-year-old man was exiting his apartment building located near East 19th Street and Ocean Avenue when the two suspects approached him in the lobby and hit him in the head with a firearm. The suspects snatched a gold chain off the victim’s neck and approximately $3,500 in cash before fleeing the scene. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital for swelling and cuts to his face.

Police describe the two suspects as follows:

Suspect 1: black male approximately 20-years-old, 5′ 5″, 150 pounds, with a dark complexion, brown eyes, and braided black hair. He was last seen riding a bike and wearing a black jacket, black jeans, and black sneakers.

Suspect 2: black male approximately 20-years-old, 5′ 5″, 150 pounds with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, and black sneakers.

PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS – Police are searching for the woman seen in the below photo in connection to a subway assault last Friday.

At approximately 9:05am on Friday October 27, aboard a northbound “B” subway at the Kings Highway Station, police say the suspect punched two women, a 37-year-old and a 63-year-old, in the face following an argument. The suspect exited the train several stop later at the Prospect Park Station.

Police describe the suspect as a black woman with black hair. She was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a light colored sweater, black jacket, and blue jeans. See a photo of the suspect below.

GRAVESEND –  The NYPD is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the three men seen in the surveillance photos below in connection to an assault that occurred two weeks ago.

At approximately 2:00am on Monday, October 16, police say they responded to a call inside 178 Avenue U near W 6th Street, at a bar called the Living Room, where a verbal argument escalated into a physical fight that left a 27-year-old woman with a stab wound to her buttock. The victim was transported to Lutheran Hospital in stable condition.

BUSHWICK – Police are searching for the man seen in the photo below in connection to snatching a woman’s purse earlier this month.

At approximately 7:55am on Saturday, October 7, police say the man approached the 32- year-old woman in the vicinity of Humboldt Street and Broadway and grabbed her purse which contained $30 in cash and two debit cards.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, approximately 20-years-old. See a photo of him below.

FLATBUSH – The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying the four suspects seen in the below photo in connection to a robbery that occurred last month.

According to police, at approximately 5:30pm on September 10, the four suspects approached a 53-year-old street vendor located in front of 994 Flatbush Avenue. The four attempted to help themselves to items from the victim’s table when the vendor confronted them. One of the suspects shoved the vendor to the ground causing pain to his head, hand, and upper leg.  The suspects then grabbed an undetermined amount of property from the vendor’s table and fled the scene.
