Weekend Crime Blotter: A Serial Sprayer on Brownsville Buses, Shots Fired in a Crown Heights Robbery & More

CROWN HEIGHTS – After a fight at the Farmer’s Market in Crown Heights last week, police are on the lookout for two men who assaulted an employee.

The incident occurred on Friday, August 24, around 11:00 pm, police said, at the corner of Eastern Parkway and Schenectady Avenue. Two unidentified male suspects assaulted an employee of the market, a 42-year old man, punching and kicking him multiple times in the face and body. During the assault, one of the suspects stabbed the victim in the back with an unknown sharp object, police said.

Fleeing on foot after the attack, both men are still at large. Surveillance photos of the suspects can be seen below:

BROWNSVILLE – Police are looking for a man who has twice sprayed an “unknown substance” at bus drivers in Brownsville.

The first time was Thursday, August 23, at 4:00 am on the B15 bus at  Rockaway Avenue and Hegeman Avenue. Police said the suspect sprayed the substance at the bus driver and fled. The 45-year old driver was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Later that day, around 3:00 pm, the serial sprayer struck another B15 bus, this one at East 98th and Blake Avenue, said police. Spraying the unknown substance at the front of the bus then fleeing, he sent the 40-year old driver and two passengers to the hospital for irritation to their eyes, police said.

MIDWOOD – Police are looking for the man who grabbed a woman during the morning rush on a Midwood subway platform last week.

On Tuesday, August 21, around 7:40 am, the suspect approached a 52-year woman on the northbound Q platform at Kings Highway and grabbed her buttocks, police said.

CROWN HEIGHTS – A would-be robber fired his gun at a potential victim in Crown Heights last earlier this month.

At 9:00 pm on Saturday, August 18, the suspect approached a 26-year old man in the area of Grand and Atlantic Avenues, pulled a gun and demanded his property, said police. When the victim tried to run, the suspect fired several shots towards him, which missed. Luckily, the victim got away, said police, and the suspect left empty-handed.

BED-STUY – After a subway rider left his cell phone and credit cards unattended on a Nostrand Avenue bench, somebody snatched them up an went shopping, police said.

The credit cards were taken sometime after 9:00 am on Saturday, August 18, when they were left on a bench at the northbound A train platform at Nostrand. The suspect that swiped them racked up $390 worth of charges at various locations, police said.

WILLIAMSBURG – Finally, police are looking for the man who snatched a wallet out of the hand of a victim at a Williamsburg subway station.

The theft took place at 11:20 am on Friday, August 17, said police. The 63-year old male victim was exiting the Lorimer J Station when an unidentified individual grabbed his wallet and fled on foot down Leonard Street. The wallet had about $300 in it, along with some credit cards.
