Weekday Fun: The Best Events October 28-30
Happy Halloween week! In addition to some fun and spooky events for the holiday happening in the neighborhood this week, we’ve also got a great reason to get dinner out on Tuesday.
Ask Me Another: Halloween Spectacular
When: Monday, October 28, 7:30pm (doors 6:30pm)
Where: The Bell House, 149 7th Street
What: Favorite children’s horror book author R.L. Stine will do a book giveaway and signing after the NPR quiz show. It’s also a costume party, so show up dressed as your favorite character.
How much: $10 in advance, $15 at the door
Dine Out And Support CHiPS
When: Tuesday, October 29
Where: Various restaurants
What: Support CHiPS, the 4th Avenue organization that provides hot meals and more to families in need, just by eating dinner at a local restaurant. The Good Night Out takes place at several Park Slope restaurants, which will donate 15% of your dinner checks to CHiPS.
Brooklyn By the Book: Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch
When: Tuesday, October 29, 7:30pm
Where: Congregation Beth Elohim, 274 Garfield Place
What: We’re already loving Tartt’s third novel, which the author will discuss (and sign copies of) in a conversation with writer and critic Maud Newton.

Matt & Meghan’s “HaLOLween Party”
When: Wednesday, October 30, 8pm (doors 7:30pm)
Where: Littlefield, 622 Degraw Street
What: A night of spookily hilarious stand-up comics, plus all ticket holders are eligible to compete in a post-show costume contest, whose outcome will be judged by the evening’s comedians.
How much: $5 in advance, $8 at the door
The Muppet Vault: Monsters
When: Wednesday, October 30, 8pm (doors 7:30pm)
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: This is the first year the event is for the 21+ set, but it’ll be much the same as past years, featuring some of the spookiest, scariest, and furriest Muppet clips, episodes, songs, and spoofs, plus trick-or-treat candy and prizes for anyone who comes dressed in a Muppet-themed costume.
How much: $8, advance tickets encouraged
