Size Matters: Noriko Ueda Jazz Orchestra
When: Monday, November 18, 9-11:30pm
Where: Tea Lounge, 837 Union Street
What: Local bassist and composer Noriko Ueda brings her Jazz Orchestra to the Tea Lounge large ensemble series “Size Matters.” And they’re not kidding! Including Noriko, there are 16 musicians in the orchestra: Alejandro Aviles, Steve Kenyon, Geoff Vidal, Jason Rigby, Tony Lustig, Sam Hoyt, Dave Smith, Nadja Noordhuis, Matt Holman, Michael Fahie, Scott Reeves, Robert Edwards, James Rogers, David Lalama, and Nadav Snir-Zelniker.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors & Fifth Avenue Committee Benefit Bash
When: Tuesday, November 19, 6:30-9pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: Mingle with neighbors, enjoy appetizers and an open wine and beer bar, and hear tunes spun by DJ Steve Reynolds, all while supporting NHN and FAC’s Homeownership, Foreclosure Prevention, Eviction Prevention, Tenant Organizing, and Post-Sandy assistance programs.

You Are Here: Artist Talk And Stargazing With Ken Nintzel
When: Tuesday, November 19, 7pm
Where: BAM,Lepercq Space & BAM Fisher Rooftop
What: How many times do you get a chance to check out the stars from a famous Brooklyn rooftop with an artist who knows a thing or two about constellations? Check out this conversation with artist Ken Nintzel in conjunction with his sculptural series of life-size constellations, You Are Here, currently installed in the Lepercq Space. After the talk, guests are invited to a guided stargazing tour on the rooftop of the BAM Fisher with telescopes provided by astronomer Summer Ash and the Columbia Astronomy Public Programs. The weather looks clear but chilly, so bundle up!

Monthly Genealogy Workshop
When: Wednesday, November 20, 7pm
Where: Central Library, InfoCommons Lab, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Whether looking for the Park Slope address of a great aunt or hunting down the high school yearbook photo of Dad, the library’s Brooklyn Collection is where many an ancestor sleuth starts their journey. In order to better assist these researchers, the library is teaming up with historian and genealogist Wilhelmena Kelly to offer monthly genealogy workshops, starting this week!
