7th Annual Soul of Brooklyn Festival – Black Is The New Black
When: Wednesday, August 24, 7: 00 p.m.
Where: MoCADA, 80 Hanson Place
What: Part of MoCADA’s festival lineup, Black is the New Black is an exploration of black culture and experiences through the perspective of visual performance artists Marguerite Hemmings and Ehizoje Azeke. The evening will feature Hemmings’ We Free, a celebration of liberation and healing through social dance and Azeke’s BLACK MASCULINE, which examines portrayals of black men in popular music. Greenlight Bookstore Presents: Literary BFFs

Where: Greenlight Bookstore, 686 Fulton St.
What: Greenlight will host the Literary BFFs reading series, where writer friends interview each other about their books, lives, and friendship; the series is hosted by David Gutowski, creator of the acclaimed literary blog Largehearted Boy. At this month’s installment, Anne Korkeakivi presents Shining Sea. Korkeakivi talks with her friend Megan Mayhew Bergman, author of Birds of a Lesser Paradise and Almost Famous Women.

What: Join us Busy Bodies every Friday morning for a Spanish Music Sing-a-long, 45-minute group class for parents and children to bond over their love of music. The class is taught by instructor Anza Anza where she teachers attendees Spanish songs, guitar, flute, and animal puppets.
