Wednesday Winter Storm Warnings
Brace yourselves, locals: More snow is about to hit the neighborhood, this time accompanied by freezing rain.
The storm will start tonight and last until Wednesday afternoon, with a predicted accumulation of three to five inches of snow and a quarter inch of ice, according to a winter storm warning issued by the National Weather Service.
The New York City Office of Emergency Management has issued a hazardous travel warning for tomorrow, warning motorists to stay off the streets if possible. If you have to drive, use major streets and highways, since those will be plowed first. Drive carefully and keep the number of a local tow truck company with you just in case. Locals can check the PlowNYC map to see when their streets will be plowed. Alternate side parking will remain suspended tomorrow as well.
There are no school cancellation announcements from the Department of Education, though after-school programs were cancelled on Monday due to snow.
And with all the ice coming down, tree branches already laden with snow could become falling hazards. So pay attention if you’re out taking photos to submit in The Nabe’s Flickr pool or decide to go sledding in a nearby park, locals.
