Wednesday Crime Blotter: Shooting Death In Williamsburg, Hit-and-Run In Madison And More
WILLIAMSBURG – A shooting just after midnight last night in Williamsburg left one man dead and another wounded, said police.
Arriving at 160 Havemeyer Street, near South 2nd Street, police found two gunshot victims: a 19-year old man shot in the leg and back, and a 20-year old man shot in the shoulder. EMS transported both men to Woodhull Hospital, where the 19-year old died of his wounds and the 20-year old remains in stable condition.
So far, there have been no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing. The victims’ names have been withheld pending family notification.
WILLIAMSBURG – Yesterday, a bicycle delivery ride was struck and killed by a tractor trailer at Graham and Metropolitan Avenues, said police.
Just after noon, the 30-year old victim was traveling eastbound on Metropolitan alongside the trailer, when he lost control and fell, and was run over by rear wheels of the trailer, according to a preliminary investigation. Police found the bicyclist unconscious and unresponsive, with severe trauma to the head and body. EMS transported the victim to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said police.
The 46-year old driver of the tractor trailer, Jose Prista, remained on the scene. “The biker tried to pass me on the right and he lost control and went under the truck,” he told the Daily News. “By the time I saw him it was too late.”
“I was panicking because I’ve been driving for over 25 years I’ve never been in accident. I got out and he was under the truck… I have to apologize to the family, I have to find them,” he said.
According to the driver, police said it was the delivery man’s first day on the job.
The NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad is conducting an investigation into the incident, and the victim’s name has been withheld pending family notification.
CROWN HEIGHTS – Police are looking for two suspects in connection with a robbery that took place on Eastern Parkway last week.
Around 3:30 on Wednesday, December 13, two men approached a 15- and a 16-year old boy in front of 639 Eastern Parkway, and while one of the suspects pretended to have a gun, demanded the boys belongings, said police. After stealing their cellphones, wallets and credit card, the two robbers fled, leaving their victims unharmed.
Police described the suspects as black men in their twenties, both about 5’10”. One was last seen wearing a two-toned blue jacket and a hoodie, with black jeans and black sneakers. The other had on a dark jacket with reflective green stripes over a gray hooded sweater, with dark jeans and black sneakers.

EAST FLATBUSH – Police are looking for the man who robbed the Church Farm Market at gunpoint on Friday, December 8.
At 4:50 am, the suspect entered the 24-hour location at 4003 Church Avenue and produced a handgun at the counter, demanding money, said police. The man left with about $1000 cash.
Police described the suspect as a black man, around 30 years-old, 6’2″ and 210 lbs. He was wearing a red jacket, orange knit cap and paint-splattered jeans, with knee pads around his ankles. Surveillance video can be seen below:
MADISON – Police are looking for the hit-and-run driver who fractured an elderly woman’s leg, then lied to her about his contact information, leaving the scene of the accident without alerting police or EMS.
At 6:45 on Thursday, December 7, the 71-year old victim was walking in the crosswalk at Quentin Road and East 21 Street in Madison when she was struck by a dark-colored four-door sedan, said police.
The driver escorted the victim, who had suffered a fractured right leg, back to her residence, but lied about his contact information, said police. He then fled without alerting the authorities. The victim later called 911, and was transported to NY Community Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.
Police described the suspect as a white male, about 5’11” with black hair. He was last seen wearing dark clothing and a winter jacket. Surveillance pictures can be seen below:
