Wednesday Crime Blotter: Fatal Collision in Brownsville, Young Mom Found Dead In Crown Heights Home
BROWNSVILLE – Police responded to a call early this morning regarding a vehicle collision near the intersection of Rockaway Avenue and Linden Boulevard.
Police arrived to the scene shortly after 4am on Wednesday, December 27 where they discovered a 58-year-old driver, Oladele Adaramola, unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to his body. Adaramola was taken to Brookdale Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police say.
According to a preliminary investigation Adaramola was driving a 2008 Nissan SUV, heading east in the westbound lanes on Linden Boulevard, according to police.
Adaramola, of Valley Stream, Long Island, was turning off Rockaway Avenue onto Linden Boulevard when his SUV wound up in the oncoming lane, the New York Daily News reports.
He collided head-on with a white commercial Ford van driven by a 73-year-old man, police say. EMS transported the driver of the van to Kings County Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
CROWN HEIGHTS – Also this morning, police found the body of a young mother at her Sterling Place home near Albany Avenue.
Police arrived at the scene at approximately 9:50am where they discovered the body of 22-year-old Tonie Wells at the bottom of the staircase leading to the basement of the home. EMS pronounced Wells dead at the scene. Her two-year-old daughter was home at the time of the incident, the New York Post reports.
Police are searching for the victim’s husband and are treating the incident as a domestic violence case, according to the New York Daily News.
The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of Wells’ death. The investigation is ongoing.
