Wednesday Crime Blotter: Ugly Scene in a Beauty Shop, Fashion Smash-and-Grab & More
BUSHWICK – After a disgruntled customer pulled a gun in a Broadway beauty supply store this weekend, police are asking for help in figuring out who he is.
On Sunday, March 25, the suspect entered Beauty Plus Supply at 1573 Broadway, near the Halsey JMZ stop, said police, accusing the employees of overcharging his credit card on a transaction the day before.
Returning to the store at 5:15 pm, the man pulled out a handgun and threatened the 24-year old woman and 42-year old man working at the store, said police. He then fled southbound on Broadway. Video of the suspect and the incident can be seen below:
CROWN HEIGHTS – Police arrested Darius Omotunde, 16, of Crown Heights, who was wanted in connection with a pair of robberies during arranged sneaker sales last week. He was charged with grand larceny, robbery and possession of a forged instrument, said police.
WILLIAMSBURG – A suspect broke another man’s jaw last week during a seemingly random attack on the street in Williamsburg, police confirmed.
The 24-year old victim was walking along Lorimer Street toward Metropolitan Avenue on Friday, March 23 when the suspect approached him punched him in the face without prior interaction, said police. The attack left the victim with a broken jaw.

GRAVESEND – Police are looking for a young man wanted in connection with the violent robbery of an elderly woman in Gravesend last week.
At 2:20 pm on Thursday, March 22, the suspect approached a 78-year old woman in the area of West 12th Street and Avenue X in Gravesend, police said. The thief slapped the woman across the face, covered her mouth and threw the senior citizen to the ground, police said. He then stole her purse and fled into the Marlboro Houses, said police.

GRAVESEND – Police are looking for a suspect in a robbery last week that might be pretty well dressed, seeing as he knocked over the Ziani Fine Italian Clothing Store on Avenue U.
At 5:01 am on Thursday, March 22, the man broke out the front door glass with a large brick, said police. Once inside, he stole 18 pieces of clothing from the stylish outfitter before fleeing on foot down East 1st Street.
