Wednesday Crime Blotter: Three Shootings in Bed-Stuy, A Screwdriver Stabbing in a 99¢ Store & More
BED-STUY – A late-night shooting that wounded a 27-year old man has police on the hunt for an unknown suspect in Bed-Stuy.
The shooting took place around 2:50 am on Saturday, July 14, said police. The 27-year old victim was shot in the lower back and groin by an unknown gunman outside 425 Nostrand Avenue, near Hancock Street.
Following the attack, the shooter fled southbound on Nostrand. EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to Kings County Hospital in stable condition, said police.

BED-STUY – Police are also looking for suspects behind another Bed-Stuy shooting, an attack on Thursday, July 5, that took place only a few blocks from last weekend’s shooting.
The incident occurred outside 260 Herkimer Street, near Brooklyn Avenue, just before 1:00 am, said police. Two suspects opened fire on a group of individuals, firing several shots and hitting three victims: a 19-year old woman was shot in the right knee, a 21-year old man was shot in his left thigh, and a 27-year old man was shot in his left leg, according to NYPD.
All three victims were transported by EMS to Kings County Hospital in serious but stable condition. Surveillance video of the suspects can be seen below:
BED-STUY – The Herkimer Street incident wasn’t the only July 5 shooting in Bed-Suy, either. Police in the neighboring precinct area on the lookout for four suspects wanted after shooting a 19-year old in the leg.
The attack came on around 5:00 pm on that same Thursday, as the four suspects chased a 19-year old westbound down Fulton Street, across from the Brevoort Houses. Outside 1880 Fulton, two of the pursuers pulled guns and fired a number of shots at the victim, striking him in the leg, said police.
The suspects fled on foot to parts unknown, while the victim was transported to Kings County Hospital and treated for his injuries. Surveillance video of the suspects can be seen below:
DOWNTOWN – A subway groping in the Nevins Street Station downtown has police looking for a suspect caught on video.
The forcible touching happened on Monday, July 2, around 6:00 pm. A 23-year old woman was entering the mezzanine via turnstile when the suspect reached out and grabbed her buttocks, then fled the station, said police.

EAST NEW YORK – Finally, in East New York, a shoplifting, screwdriver-wielding thief is on the run after trying to steal soap from a 99 Cent Store.
On June 28, around 8:00 pm, the suspect entered the store on 758 New Lots Avenue, at Cleveland Street, and attempted to steal two bars of soap, said police. When confronted about the theft by employees, the suspect brandished a screwdriver, stabbing a 51-year old male employee in the arm.
The suspect fled the scene and the victim was treated for his injury at Brookdale Hospital, said police. Surveillance video of the suspect can be seen below:
