One of the water mains burst under the Willoughby Avenue entrance to Fort Greene Park yesterday, October 7, sending a geyser of water up shortly before noon.

The water main break took out water service to part of the park, including its Visitors Center bathrooms — if you need the toilet or sink today, go to the Myrtle Avenue playground bathrooms.

Construction at the Willoughby Avenue entrance along Washington Park continues after multiple delays and won’t be completed for another 6-8 months, in spring/summer 2016. City parks department officials mentioned at Wednesday night’s park project “scope” meeting that the complexity of the engineering slowed them down, and this fall will bring completion of the handicapped access path and other pathways, while the spring will bring landscaping and beautification.
