Watch The Verrazano Get Taken Apart And Put Back Together In Under Five Minutes

Ever wonder why the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge is always under construction?

The MTA released two Youtube videos describing the agency’s ongoing Verrazano-Narrows projects: the upper level deck replacement project and the construction of the new HOV/bus ramp that will connect the HOV/bus lane from the bridge to the Gowanus HOV/bus lane in Brooklyn.

The first video (above) includes a time lapse of the old deck being lifted out and a new, lighter, orthotropic deck being put in its place. The second clip shows new piers going up on the Brooklyn side of the bridge to support the new HOV/bus ramp.

It’s all pretty cool-looking and interesting. Check it out.
