Watch: Leah Remini Teaches Daughter How To Eat A Slice At DaVinci Pizzeria
In Season 2 of her TLC reality TV show Leah Remini: It’s All Relative, the actress returns to her hometown — Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.
In one episode, Remini takes husband Angelo Pagán and daughter Sophia on a trip down memory lane, visiting her family’s old apartment building and opening up about her humble beginnings in the southern Brooklyn neighborhood.
“We don’t come from a whole lot. At the time we were on welfare. Tiny one-bathroom — tiny, tiny, tiny. Tiny bedroom,” Remini tells the camera. “I want my daughter to know where we came from, because it’s nothing to be ashamed of.”
One of the highlights of their trip to New York was visiting DaVinci Pizzeria (6514 18th Avenue), a neighborhood staple that has been serving Bensonhurst since the 1960s. Of course, she taught her little girl how to fold a slice like a true New Yorker.
But the actress’ New York nostalgia doesn’t end there. Below, Remini shares her most traumatic memories of riding the New York City subway:
Here, the actress tries to train her LA-born daughter to speak with a New York accent:
