city-camp

Time to escape the cold by thinking about summer – and where to ship those kids off to during the day so you can get some peace and quiet (or, you know, go to work). Sheepshead Bay has summer camps that create math geniuses and some that keep you outside on the beach. Here’s eight great camps serving our area, and a link to find many other great camps throughout the borough.

A Summer Adventure
Various locations. Park Slope, Williamsburg, Sheepshead Bay, Bay Ridge, Charleston, Grasmere
For ages 2 to 10
Are you looking for a camp that is both educational and enjoyable? FasTracKids Enrichment promises to keep kids learning. They have separate prep courses for core classes.

Mathnasium
7409 3rd Ave. Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst
Mathnasium hosts a special summer program for all school-age children who don’t want to fall behind.

Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation
This half- or full-day option is entirely public funded which is great for parents looking for affordable summer camps, but tenuous for the Foundation’s budget. The site still has 2014 information up.  Emailthem for the 2015 application deadline.

Mill Basin Day Camp
5945 Strickland Avenue, Mill Basin, 718-251-6200

There are open houses almost every weekend February – June. Campers must enroll for a four or an eight week camp. Partial week options are available.

Jewish Community House
7802 Bay Parkway, Bensonhurst, 718-331-6800
For children between the ages of 3-5 and grades 1-9
Registration is open for the 87th Jewish Community House summer camps. Although the website isn’t elegant, there is an email and a phone number to call for questions. Special needs camps will also be offered.

Shorefront Y Day Camp

For children between the ages of 2.5-14
Camp reunion and open house is February 8th and 2pm. An early bird discount is also currently available. In addition to summer camps, Shorefront Y also hosts youth sports.

New Adventures Day Camp
PS 277 at 2529 Gerritsen Avenue
For children entering grades K to 10
Held at PS 277, this camp offers everything a traditional camp offers including swimming, arts and crafts, and sports.

Brooklyn Cyclones Camp
MCU Park, Coney Island, 718-382-2603
For children between the ages of 7-14
Registration is open for this half-day, one-week camp. Seats sell out fast. This is an opportunity for baseball fans to meet professionals and possibly a future major leaguer.

For even more camps around Brooklyn and beyond, check out our sister site City Kid Camp, which will be continually updated as the registration season gets into full swing.
