No celebration of the birth of our nation is complete without ice cream, happy hours, and lots and lots of food. That’s why The Runner (458 Myrtle Avenue) is launching a brand new sidewalk ice cream stand this Friday, July 3 — right in time for Independence Day celebrations.

“We’ll be open seven days a week with a selection of six flavors every day,” said a Runner employee. “They’re all made in-house and will change a couple of times a week every time a batch is done.”

The Friday grand opening kicks off at noon with a $3 ice cream cone special (cone + one scoop of ice cream).  Walt’s Sidewalk Ice Cream Stand will be open throughout the summer.

The stand is also just one part of The Runner’s weeklong Fourth Of July celebration: every day this week features $18 lobster rolls and coming up are a Thursday (July 2) Clam Bake, Friday (July 3) Ice Cream celebration, Saturday (July 4) Happy Hour, and Sunday (July 5) Blue Crab Pasta special.
