Volunteer For Councilman Deutsch’s Community Cleanup This Weekend
City Councilman Chaim Deutsch is inviting the community to take part in a neighborhood cleanup on Sunday to clear out debris in catch basins that cause flooding during heavy rain.
“When catch basins get clogged with leaves and debris, it severely impedes the draining of water, creating ponding and overflow conditions. I invite community members and volunteer groups to join me on Sunday for this important cleanup effort,” Deutsch said in a press release.
The activity will take place from 9am to 12pm. Volunteers should meet at Deutsch’s district office at 2401 Avenue U, near the corner of East 24th Street, where they will be paired up and receive equipment provided by the Department of Sanitation. The teams of volunteers will be sent out to clear out catch basins in Sheepshead Bay and Midwood.
