Volunteer At Green-Wood Cemetery
If you love New York City history and love talking to people, there’s a great volunteer opportunity at Green-Wood Cemetery‘s Visitor Services Desk.
They’re looking for dedicated volunteers at their new welcome area within the grand Gothic Arches to greet visitors from all over the world. You’ll sell books and souvenir items, share information about upcoming events, and you’ll help Green-Wood make a personal connection to the many visitors who visit every day to take in the historic landscape.
You’ll need to commit to four hours a week, and in return you’ll get a complimentary Green-Wood membership (with reciprocal benefits at the Brooklyn Historical Society), select Green-Wood books to help you learn about its history, an invitation to the annual party for volunteers, free coffee (“It’s actually pretty decent,” they say), and more.
Additionally, for NYC high school students this qualifies as community service to a not-for-profit institution.
If you’re interested, send a cover letter and resume to jconnolly@green-wood.com with “Volunteer” in the subject line.
