Video Released Of Suspect’s Vehicle In Pedestrian Fatality On 5th Avenue

Police have released a video of the suspect’s vehicle involved in an apparent hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian.

The incident took place near the intersection of 5th Avenue and 9th Street at approximately 5:00am on Sunday, February 28, according to police.

Cops say the suspect’s vehicle is described as a late model 4-door Nissan Altima, light brown or tan in color, with damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. The car is missing its passenger side mirror, its bumper is broken, and the passenger side headlight and fog light are inoperable.

The incident took place in the vicinity of 5th Avenue and 9th Street. Cops say the suspect’s vehicle ran a red light and struck a 41-year-old male victim as he was crossing 5th Avenue. The suspect did not stop and fled south on 5th Avenue.

The police arrived at the scene to discover the unconscious and unresponsive victim with severe trauma to the body.

EMS brought the victim to Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

There are no arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad.

The identity of the deceased is pending after the victim’s family is notified.
