Video: Meet Councilman Greenfield

Councilman David Greenfield stopped by last night’s Community Board 15 meeting in his first appearance before the board since winning his seat in a special election in March.

Representing District 44, which covers Midwood, Boro Park and Bensonhurst, Greenfield has only a small sliver of Community Board 15 residents. But, according to the statements made, he’s the first representative from that district to regularly send a liaison to meetings in decades.

In front of the board, he spoke about several of his 25-or-so legislative initiatives, including an effort to bar full body scanners in all of New York City – including its two airports. He said the scanners are invasive and ineffective, and were only installed by the TSA after a questionable contracting scheme.

Other initiatives include painting red lines to show where you can’t part around fire hydrants, and waiving fees for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans seeking city jobs.

The councilman also said he is open to serving residents who don’t live in his district, and his office (4424 16th Avenue) can be reached by calling (718) 853-2704 or (718) 853-2068.
