Victim Bloodied At Bartel-Pritchard Square After Being Assaulted With Bike Lock

A man was injured and bloodied after being hit in the head with a bike lock after an argument with three men at Bartel-Pritchard Square today.

According to witness and neighbor Tom Prendergast, the incident took place on Prospect Park West and Bartel-Pritchard Square at approximately 2:30pm today.

“The guy [victim]  holding his bloodied head was in an argument with three guys on Prospect Park West, when one of them hit him on the head with a bike lock,” says Tom Prendergast, who was on hand to take these photos.

Prendergast explains that officers from the 78th Precinct came immediately, however the alleged assaulters fled the scene before police arrived.

“I spoke with the lieutenant who asked if I had videoed the incident. I mentioned I had tried to from my terrace, but my vision was blocked by the trees,” says Prendergast.

Prendergast said he left the scene when the ambulance came to pick up the victim.

Update on March 8 at 4:36pm: We inaccurately named the 72nd Precinct as the arriving officers. The 78th Precinct is handling this investigation.
