BAY RIDGE — Fran T. Vella-Marrone was elected Kings County Conservative Party Chair on Tuesday, making her the first woman to sit at the helm of the party.

“I’m proud to be the first woman to be elected as the chair of the Kings County Conservative Party,” Vella-Marrone said as she also thanked former chair Gerard Kassar for his 30 years of service.

Vella-Marrone previously served as vice chair for nearly two decades, and before that treasurer for ten years.  The 55-year-old is also treasurer of the state’s Conservative Party and serves in U.S. Congressman Dan Donovan’s administration as the Brooklyn district director.

Vella-Marrone has been an active member of the Conservative Party since before she was eligible to vote at the age of 17.

“I also want to congratulate all of the newly elected officers of the Kings County Conservative Party,” Vella-Marrone said. “Together we will work to elect quality candidates to public office and speak out on important issues.”

The Conservative Party was founded in five New York City Counties, including Kings, in 1962. The organization has backed a number of candidates and government elected officials such as State Senators Marty Golden and Simcha Felder, Assembly members Nicole Malliotakis and Dov Hikind, and City Councilmembers David Greenfield and Kalman Yaeger. Most recently, the party backed Congressman Dan Donovan against primary opponent Michael Grimm.

Current officers of the Kings County Conservative Party are as follows:

  • Frances T. Vella-Marrone — Chairwoman
  • David Ryan — Vice Chairman
  • Nanci Roden — Executive Secretary
  • Ross Brady — Treasurer
