Update: A neighbor let us know that the tree has been cut up into pieces, but debris remains – so heads up as you navigate the area.

Many thanks to neighbor William Cerf for letting us know about this uprooted tree near the apartment complex at 1810 Cortelyou Road, right  by the B103 bus stop.

The area has been cordoned off, but, as William said to us, be careful as you walk or drive in that area.

When William first noticed the tree was partially uprooted on Thursday, he spoke to the Parks Department about it – and a spokesperson told him that it could take them two weeks to address the matter.

“When I told them it was a dangerous situation, they transferred me to 911, where I reported a non-life threatening issue,” William said.

“I also stopped an NYPD patrol car on Cortelyou to report the tree,” William told us.

Later that day, William stopped at Engine 281 and Ladder 147 on Cortelyou Road to show them the pictures of the partially uprooted tree.

“They then got right on it and put yellow tape around the tree and blocked part of the lane closest to the curb so that when the tree came down, no injuries would occur,” William wrote.

The neighbor noticed the tree was entirely uprooted last Friday and had been cut up into smaller pieces today.
