As BKLYNER reported Saturday morning, there was a fire at bar/music venue Union Hall located at 702 Union Street (at 5th Avenue) just before midnight Friday night.

FDNY received a call at 11:50pm Friday night and 60 firefighters responded to the scene immediately, a representative says. What was first a smoke condition escalated into a fire located in the building’s cockloft (the small area between the ceiling and the roof), the FDNY states.

The bar was evacuated and there were no injuries. The fire was under control by 12:36am.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
