Upcoming Sandy Benefit Shows

In addition to all the ways neighbors can help support our NYC friends who are suffering after Sandy, several Park Slope venues have put together benefit shows that will donate proceeds to relief organizations. So get out and have a good time for a good cause.

Brooklyn Relief: A Night of Words, Music and Comedy
Union Hall, Monday, November 12, 7:30pm
Tickets: $20, with 100% of proceeds going to Hurricane Sandy Relief – 50% to the Red Hook Initiative and 50% to The NY Communities Hurricane Relief Fund
The show is a who’s who of Brooklyn entertainers, featuring Henry Alford, Jonathan Ames, Amy Sohn, Dan wilbur, Charles Star, Elna Baker, Francisco Goldman, Andy Friedman, and Natalia Zukerman. Shirts and tote bags will also be available, as will as hand-drawn portraits by Friedman, with 100% of the proceeds given to charity.

Anything But Politics: A Pop Culture Trivia Benefit for Sandy Hosted by Pat Kiernan
The Bell House, Tuesday, November 13, 7:30pm
Tickets: $15, with 100% of ticket revenue going to benefit Hurricane Sandy relief efforts
The former World Series of Pop Culture host and current NY1 anchor will test your trivial knowledge (everything but politics) in a night featuring multiple rounds of team trivia for the entire room. Everybody in attendance will also have the opportunity to enter a raffle for the chance to play 1-on-1 trivia onstage with Pat, and win some truly fantastic theme-appropriate prizes.

Party Like It’s 1999: Sandy Benefit Edition
The Bell House, Saturday, November 17, 10:30pm
Tickets: Free admission, but there will be a “Pay to Play” jar. While you’re out there dancing, if you want to hear a song request, donate money. The more cash you donate, the quicker you’ll hear your song. All proceeds from the night will go to the Brooklyn Recovery Fund.

Defiance: A Literary Benefit to Rebuild Red Hook
Littlefield, Wednesday, November 14, 7pm
Tickets: $50, with 100% of proceeds going to Restore Redhook and the Red Hook Initiative
Join Kurt Andersen, Steve Earle, Chuck Klosterman, Mary Karr, Philip Gourevitch, Robert Sullivan, Sam Lipsyte, and more for a night of literary readings to celebrate the history and future of Red Hook.

Hurricane Sandy Benefit Show with Friend Roulette and More
Union Hall, Friday, November 16, 7:30pm
Tickets: $10, with 100% of proceeds going to Occupy Sandy
The lineup of New York City musicians includes Friend Roulette, Flying Pace, Bright Brown, and Katie Mullins.

A Very Funny ‘F* ck You’ To Sandy
The Bell House, Sunday, November 25, 7:30pm
Tickets: $30, with 100% of proceeds to be donated to The Brooklyn Recovery Fund
With all the difficulty and grief caused by Sandy, we could all use a good laugh, and these comedians are just the ones to make that happen. Hosted by Eugene Mirman, the night features Jon Glaser, Wyatt Cenac, Mike Birbiglia, Michael Che, and more.

Live Band Karaoke with Bunnie England and the New Originals
The Bell House’s Frontier Room, Sunday, November 25, 9:30pm
Tickets: Admission is free, but donations of $5 (or more) will be accepted for song submissions at this afterparty following the comedy show in the main hall. 100% of proceeds to the Brooklyn Recovery Fund.

The Tell Your Friends! the Concert Film! Release Show/Sandy Benefit
The Bell House, Wednesday, December 5, 7:30pm
Tickets: $15 general admission, $40 VIP guaranteed seating, with proceeds going to benefit Sandy recovery efforts
Release party and viewing of a comedy concert film that was recorded at the Bell House and which featured performances by several NYC comedians. Wyatt Cenac, Aaron Freeman (aka Gene Ween), Christian Finnegan, and more will be on hand at the party.

The Party MacHine’s 2nd Annual Holiday Benefit Blowout
The Bell House, Tuesday, December 13, 7:30pm
Tickets: $12 in advance, $15 at the door, with proceeds going to Red Cross Disaster Relief for victims of Hurricane Sandy and Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue
Professional party hosts Arden Myrin and Lisa deLarios host their yearly Holiday Spectacular comedy theme party featuring performers seen on Comedy Central, SNL, Jimmy Fallon, The Daily Show and more.
