Unique Flowers Grows For Mother’s Day
It’s the afternoon before Mother’s Day 2009 and the scene in front of Unique Flowers on Avenue Z is “quiet before the storm”.
They are expecting a lot of shoppers for Mother’s Day and have rented out the vacant building (at the corner of Avenue Z & East 18 St) that once housed a Georgian restaurant, in order to accommodate the extra flowers. Workers could be seen inside actively trimming flowers and setting them into arrangements.
This store has some nice arrangements at affordable prices, so that must explain why they are in so much demand. The owners tend to keep longer hours than other florists in Sheepshead Bay and so it’s the perfect place to rush in on a busy holiday for the last-minute bouquet — that is, if they haven’t run out. Looks like this year, they’re not expecting to run out of flowers, though.
