Two Men Shot Outside Homeless Shelter

CANARSIE—Two men were shot early Wednesday morning in front of a homeless shelter in Canarsie, according to police.

Just before 3 a.m. on July 10, police responded to a 911 call of a shooting that took place in the vicinity of 615 East 104 Street (at Farragut Road), the Star Bright Family Residence homeless shelter.

One of the victims, 27-year-old Justin Kelly, was shot in the head. The other, a 36-year-old male, was shot in the neck. EMS transported both victims to Brookdale Hospital, where Kelly was pronounced dead. The other victim is in critical condition.

According to the NYPD, Kelly lived nearby on East 103 Street.

There have been no arrests made and the investigation is ongoing.
