Two ‘Mega Million’ Winning Tickets Sold in Brooklyn
SOUTHERN BROOKLYN – Two lucky Mega Million winners in Southern Brooklyn will take home $1 million as a second place consolation prize from the record-breaking lottery drawing Tuesday night.
The Brooklyn ticket holders purchased their winning stubs in Bensonhurst and Gravesend. A&C Mini Market in Bensonhurst issued one of the two Quick Pick tickets. The Stop & Shop at 2965 Cropsey Ave. in Gravesend issued the second, also via randomly selected Quick Pick numbers.
Supermarket staff said news about the winning ticket is all the chatter throughout the market since opening at 6:00 am this morning.
“The associates and the customers are very excited,” said Assistant Manager Pamela Ballom. “We all want to know which one of our customers won.”
The Stop & Shop is three years old and was converted from a Pathmark in 2015 after the company’s acquisition deal with A & P.
Both stores’ operators will receive $10,000 for issuing the winning tickets.
There were 26 runners-up in the monstrous $1.6 billion Mega Million contest. Two additional tickets were sold in New York, one each in Yonkers and Hauppauge. Ticket holders need to have five of the winning numbers, excluding the Mega Ball number, to be considered a second place winner.
