Two Lincoln Center Performances Coming Up At The Kensington Library
The world class talent of Lincoln Center is coming to our neighborhood with performances at the Kensington Library (4207 18th Avenue between E 2nd and E 3rd Street) on Wednesday, May 21 and Tuesday, June 17.
This Wednesday at 2pm, library patrons can enjoy a program centered around the compositions of Mozart. Performers will include pianist Soyeon Kate Lee, violinists Benjamin Beilman and Ani Kavafian, violists Lily Francis and Paul Neubauer, cellist Timothy Eddy, and horn player Radovan Vlatković. Included in their repertoire will be the Piano Trio in B-flat major, K. 502; the Horn Quintet in E-flat major, K. 407, and the Viola Quintet in C major.
Then on June 17 at 2pm, neighbors can attend a special broadcast of the New York Philharmonic Gala with Yo-Yo Ma. Music director Alan Gilbert will lead the Philharmonic, with works including Osvaldo Golijov’s Azul, a cello concerto written for Ma; the world premiere of an arrangement of Astor Piazzolla’s La serie del Ángel by Octavio Brunetti, which the Philharmonic commissioned; and Maurice Ravel’s Alborada del gracioso and Boléro.
Performances are free and no RSVP is necessary, but you may want to arrive early as space is limited.
