SHEEPSHEAD BAY – We received a tip yesterday about a massive police presence and K9 dogs on Voorhies Avenue and East 16th Street. It turns out, it was a robbery.

According to the NYPD, two unknown masked men approached a man near Voorhies Avenue and Shore Parkway. They displayed firearms and attempted to zip tie the 34-year-old victim. From his pocket, they removed $400 in cash, a debit card, credit card, and keys. From the victim’s car, they stole his pocketbook which contained a cellphone.

The two suspects then fled and headed in an unknown direction. The victim was uninjured. Cops tell us no one has yet been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.

So many questions.

  1. was the $400 in hundred dollar bills? I observed someone, I think it was Wednesday evening, trying to pass a $100 bill at a newsstand near the Sheepshead Bay Road station. The man appeared to be Hispanic, and became irate when the newsdealer refused to accept the bill. He cursed, claimed the dealer was ‘racist’, spit in the dealer’s face, and broke his window.
