A possible hate crime took place last Friday morning on the normally bustling 9th Street in Park Slope, the Daily News reported.

According to police, a 32-year old transgender man was a victim of a brutal attack by at least three suspects. The incident took place near the intersection of 7th Avenue and 9th Street at approximately 11:30am on Friday, May 13.

Cops say the victim — who self-identifies as male — was walking north on 9th Street when he made eye contact with a group of five men walking in the opposite direction.

One of the suspects shouted, “What are you looking at, you white faggot?” and the victim was then punched repeatedly in the head and face, according to the police. At least three of the five suspects were engaged in the violent act.

The victim was taken to nearby Methodist Hospital with injuries that include a fractured left eye.

The police describe the suspects as black men, all of which are in their late teens or early 20s.

According to a police spokesperson, cops are investigating and have not yet determined whether they consider the incident a hate crime.

Cops say no arrests have been made at this time.
