Traffic Calming Meeting with Eugene and the DOT Coming in April

In case you’ve heard about a traffic calming meeting from Councilmember Mathieu Eugene and the Department of Transportation coming up in the neighborhood tomorrow, please note that it’s been rescheduled for a date in April that has yet to be determined. Both Eugene’s office and the DOT have told us that the meeting will not be held tomorrow, and the Councilmember is looking for a date that works next month.

The Councilmember and the DOT held their first meeting about traffic calming in October, where items including new traffic lights (some of which have been installed since) and more dedicated parking spots for firefighters at the house on Cortelyou to help stop the double parking (which we’ve been following up on, but it is slow going).

Councilmember Eugene said he would hold a second meeting to follow up on these items and more, but the meeting has been rescheduled since first being announced for January. We hope that when it finally comes, he can also help in some way with the problems that still persist along Coney Island Avenue. We’ll let you know when we hear about the new date.
