Tour De Brooklyn Is Rolling Through Neighborhood Sunday
Sunday morning drivers and pedestrians, be aware that there will be a stream of bicyclists — including children — riding along 9th Street this coming Sunday morning, June 7, as part of the 11th annual Tour De Brooklyn.
The annual recreational bike tour will have 1,200 riders depart from Red Hook on a 20-mile tour through the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, Flatbush, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Fort Greene, and Williamsburg. Riders will be moving at a “family-friendly pace” and will be escorted by NYPD officers along one lane of two-or-more-lane thoroughfares.
In our neck of the woods, the route comes up 9th Street from Red Hook before turning onto Prospect Park West and on to Prospect Park Southwest, Coney Island Avenue, Caton Avenue and on into Flatbush.
The route will also be cutting through:
- Park Slope: eastward on 9th Street between Red Hook and Prospect Park West; the traffic circle onto Coney Island Avenue up until Caton Avenue
- Flatbush: Caton Avenue between Coney Island Avenue and Rugby Road; Rugby Road between Caton and Newkirk Avenues; Rogers Avenue between Newkirk and Maple Street
- Prospect Lefferts and Crown Heights: Maple Street between Rogers and Utica Avenues; President Street between Rochester and Rogers Avenues; Rogers Avenue up to Flatbush Avenue where it becomes Bedford Avenue
- Fort Greene: Clymer Street to Kent Avenue, and onto Flushing Avenue until Nassau Street
- DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights: Old Fulton Street, Furman Street, and Montague Street
