Tot Lot Volunteer Removed
After several parents complained about a volunteer at the Tot Lot on Cortelyou and Argyle being confrontational and aggressive, the Parks Department, who is responsible for the playground, has taken action to get rid of him. From Assemblywoman Rhoda Jacobs:
Assemblywoman Jacobs’ Community Service Office has contacted the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation about numerous complaints (over a period of time) related to a volunteer who is currently responsible for opening and closing the Cortelyou Road “Tot Lot” located at Argyle and Cortelyou Roads. In response, the Parks Department has decided to remove the volunteer in question from his duties and he will be replaced.
Assemblywoman Jacobs will continue to monitor the situation and asks that any and all future complaints and concerns be brought to her attention immediately. Her office can be reached at 718-434-0446 or via email jacobsr@assembly.state.ny.us.
In addition to contacting Assemblywoman Jacobs, complaints like this can be directed to Community Board 14 (who also spoke with Parks in this situation), and the 70th Precinct. If you ever feel like you’re being harassed, at the Tot Lot or anyplace else, the police recommend you call 911.
