Because we got burned once when we didn’t get a promised cemitas shop on 5th Avenue (it turned into a nail salon instead), we’re coming to the news of a new outpost of a bakery known for its Mexican specialties with an edge of caution. Still: Tortas are promised for 7th Avenue!

The space is at 161 7th Avenue, between Garfield and 1st, which was recently left empty when Piccola Uva consolidated with its sister space Tutta Pasta — itself listed for rent — located across the street.

Here’s Park Slope has learned that Sunset Park’s Las Rosas Bakery (5824 4th Avenue at 59th Street) will be adding another location, called Las Rosas Grill. Yelp reviews praise the bread their tortas come on, call their tacos some of the best around, and are making us hungry for their weekend tamales.
