Tonight Under The Stars: New York Philharmonic Presents Free Concert In Prospect Park
Since 1965, New York Philharmonic has presented free outdoor concerts in our beloved parks. The experience brings out classical music lovers, picnickers, and all of us who don’t want to miss an opportunity to be under the stars.
And tonight’s the night for Long Meadow in Prospect Park. The music begins at 6:30pm on Friday, June 17, and it’s free and open to all. The evening will culminate in an impressive display of fireworks, so make sure you don’t slip out early.
While the world-renowned New York Philharmonic will begin their performance at 8pm this evening, the event will also feature local musicians in a Share the Stage program beginning at 6:30pm.
For the second year in a row, the New York Philharmonic will present Share the Stage, featuring performances by local musicians in their home boroughs. Marika Hughes & Bottom Heavy will perform from 6:30pm-7pm.
Conductor Alan Gilbert will lead the NYP in performances of Beethoven’s Overture to Fidelio and Symphony No. 3, Eroica, as well as Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto. You can listen to all the selections here.
So roll in the grass, Beethoven. And you can roll with him. See you there!
