Tonight: NY1 Interviews Gravesend Historian Joseph Ditta For 5-Part Brooklyn Series
NY1 News recently launched a history series that zooms in on a different borough each week, and this week, the cable news channel will be focussing on our neck of the woods.
NY1’s five-part segment on Brooklyn began airing on Sunday, October 25, at 11pm. Part two — which starts at 11pm tonight and will repeat all day on Tuesday — closes in on southwestern Brooklyn and will include an interview with our favorite Gravesend historian Joseph Ditta.
Ditta, who works as librarian for the New-York Historical Society, told us he talked to NY1’s Jeanine Ramirez about Gravesend history for two hours, but there was no way to know what parts of the interview made it into the segment.
“Based on last night’s episode, I’m guessing it might have to do with why Gravesend is called Gravesend. I talked about many things, including the Moody House, and as we were standing outside the Gravesend Cemetery, I naturally mentioned some of its ‘occupants.’ And I showed her lots of historic images, which she filmed,” he said. “But judging from how short last night’s spot was, I can’t imagine too much made the cut.”
We’ll just have to tune in tonight to find out.
