Outdoor dining, free musical entertainment and shopping bargains are coming to Church and Flatbush Avenues this Friday, when the Church Avenue BID and Flatbush Avenue BID will kick off the sidewalk sales event that the groups are co-hosting through Sunday, August 24.

Each day, the event will be held from 12pm to 6pm on Flatbush Avenue from Parkside Avenue to Cortelyou Road, and on Church Avenue from Coney Island Avenue to Flatbush Avenue.

To sweeten the annual event that has long drawn shoppers and families to the area, participating retailers will offer 10 percent off the purchase of any one item valued at $20 to $100, and participating eateries will offer a free can of soda with a food purchase of $5 or more.

From 12 pm to 3pm on Saturday, August 23, shoppers can take a break from bargain hunting to enjoy free live music by steel pan bands CASYM Steel Orchestra (winner of the 2013 Panorama Steel Pan competition) and Metro Steel Orchestra. The performances will be held at the Flatbush Caton Market (on the corner of Flatbush Avenue and Caton Avenue). The BIDs will be onsite offering free balloons and coupons at this time too.
