Saturday: BP Adams To Face Off With BP Diaz In Handball Match To Promote Health, Youth Empowerment
Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams will captain “Team Brooklyn” in a handball grudge match against Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and “Team Bronx” in the 2015 Johnny Ray Memorial Pro Wall Ball Tournament tomorrow, January 24, at 5:30pm — and it’s going down right in our backyards!
Team Brooklyn is the current title holder and will be defending its trophy against Team Bronx on home turf — specifically MatchPoint NYC, a state-of-the-art sports and fitness facility located at 2781 Shell Road in Gravesend.
In addition to facing each other on the handball court, Borough Presidents Adams and Diaz will speak to the importance of sports in their agendas to advance public health and youth empowerment; a number of local athletes who will be in competition tomorrow have turned their lives around through handball.
The annual event, which is free and open to the public, is expected to draw many politicians, community leaders, media professional, and local celebrities. Also competing in the tournament, will be newcomers Team Philly and Team Long Island.
