Thwak! Bergen Street Comics Throwing A Farewell Party
Customer Benham Jones put it perfectly when he posted to the Bergen Street Comics Farewell Party invitation on Facebook: “Can this be a sleepover party? I just wanna make tea and chill and read forever.”
Fans of Bergen Street Comics (470 Bergen Street between Flatbush and 5th Avenues) were in dismay this past August when owner Tom Adams announced the store closing.
Luckily, there will be one last chance to gather and celebrate what many consider to be a beloved neighborhood institution.
In the spirit of generosity the store is known for, the invitation reads: “Please join us one last time at Bergen Street Comics – so that WE can raise a glass to all of YOU – our customers, our family, our friends! Bubbly beverages will be served.”
The farewell party will take place at Bergen Street Comics at 470 Bergen Street (between Flatbush and 5th Avenues) on Saturday, September 26 at 7pm. No RSVP is necessary and the event is free.
Joy Lee is one of the many regulars who will attend the party. Her Facebook RSVP encapsulates the effect the store has had on so many. “My husband and I do not have much disposable income, but about once a month we would go on a date and get lunch nearby followed by a trip to Bergen Street Comics. It’s been an awesome routine in our lives for about the last year. Thank you so much for creating the most approachable, charming place to discover new worlds and old heroes.”
Along with the rest of the community, we wish all at Bergen Street Comics the best of luck!
