Valentine’s Day Crime Blotter: Cop Choking Wife, Burglary, A Missing Person & More

WILLIAMSBURG – Police need help searching for a man that went missing last month.

31-year-old James Johnston was last seen inside his home at 53 Morgan Avenue on January 29 at about 11 p.m.

The NYPD describes him as 5’8” tall Asian man weighing about 200 lbs. He has brown eyes and a large burn scar over his elbow. A photo of Johnston is attached below.

STUYVESANT HEIGHTS – The NYPD is searching for seven men involved in a robbery that took place earlier this month.

On February 2 at about 6:46 p.m., a 50-year-old man was sitting on the front stairs of 462 Pulaski Street. Cops say seven men approached him and began beating him with unknown items, which caused him several injuries. The suspects took his cellphone– which cost approximately $600– and headed west on Stuyvesant Avenue.

The victim was taken to Woodhull Hospital and was in serious but stable condition, with a broken leg and eye socket.

One of the suspects is described as a man with a light complexion and a beard. He was last seen wearing a light blue ski cap and a black hooded sweatshirt with an Arc’teryx logo. A video is attached below.

KENSINGTON – Police need help searching for a man they believe touched a woman inside a supermarket earlier this month.

On February 4 at about 9:20 p.m., a man approached a 30-year-old woman inside a ShopRite at 1080 McDonald Avenue. He proceeded to touch the woman’s crotch and butt. The suspect then left and headed to an unknown direction. Cops say the victim was not physically injured.

The suspect is described as a 30-to-40-year-old 5’5” tall Hispanic man with a medium build. He was last seen wearing all dark clothing. A photo is attached below.

GRAVESEND – Cops need help searching for a man involved in a robbery that took place last month.

On January 27 at about 11:30 p.m., the suspect entered a limousine on 31st Street and 2nd Avenue in Manhattan. He told the 51-year-old driver to drive to 128 Avenue V in Gravesend. Once he arrived at the location, he left the limo and entered the liquor store. When he returned to the limo, he placed a knife on the victim’s neck and demanded money. He took $150 and left to an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned man in his 40ies wearing a dark ski hat. A photo is attached below.

MIDWOOD – Police need help to look for a man involved in a burglary that took place earlier this month.

On February 7 at about 12:04 p.m., the suspect entered a 27-year-old man’s apartment located on Avenue H at East 14 Street through the window. Once he was inside, he took $15 and left to an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a 35-year-old white man with brown eyes and a medium build. He was last seen wearing a green shirt, black jacket, white pants, a black baseball hat, and red shoes. A photo is attached below.

BROWNSVILLE – An NYPD cop was arrested earlier this week for strangling his wife.

41-year-old Jeffrey Stewart choked his wife during an argument inside of his home in Brownsville at around 4 a.m on February 9. He was arrested shortly after.

He was off duty and the 38-year-old victim was not hospitalized.
