Throwback Thursday: “The Old Swimming Hole” In Clinton Hill

It’s cooler today, but you might have seen kids (and maybe some adults) playing in open fire hydrants in the neighborhood yesterday, the hottest day of the year so far. This week’s Throwback Thursday shows children cooling off on the corner of Myrtle Avenue and Ryerson Street, called “The Old Swimming Hole,” in 1915. Tip: Don’t try to open a fire hydrant yourself, ask the fire department to legally open a hydrant on your block instead.
